About Us

CIAM Pattern Making Australia is a unique fashion school offering courses in patternmaking and classes on sewing and garment construction.

CIAM stands for Centro Internazionale Alta Moda, which translates to the Centre for International High Fashion. It is our mission to provide students with an effective patternmaking method that gives them beautiful clothes with a perfect fit, every time!

About the Method

CIAM teaches the exclusive Italian Guarino method of patternmaking. The Guarino method uses a specially designed and graded ruler to construct patterns such as tops, skirts, pants and sleeves with very little calculation required by the user. The method is easy to learn, quick, efficient and effective! It is equally suitable for the home sewer or professional dressmaker.

CIAM Patternmaking Australia commenced trading in July 2002 and has been teaching the Guarino method for the last 6 years. Annamaria Granato, our Director of Teaching, is a graduate of the Guarino School in Rome herself and has been teaching sewing and patternmaking for the last forty years.
